Cats can sleep for long hours. They can also take short naps, also known as ‘cat naps’ which give them enough rest to keep them alert if they were to face any excitement or danger. Their genes are designed in such a way that they sleep so that they may be ready to hunt at short notice. Ages ago, when cats were not domesticated, they used to hunt to survive and they needed tremendous energy for that. Just like lions, tigers and other wild cats, domesticated cats sleep more during the day; so they’ll be ready to hunt at night, especially around sunrise and sunset.
Why do cats sleep so much?
