The first mobile phone was invented in 1973 by an American engineer, Martin ‘Marty’ Cooper in Schaumburg, Illinois. He was former Motorola inventor in midtown Manhattan and he placed a call to the headquarters of Bell Labs in New Jersey. The first mobile phone went on sale in the United States at a price of $4,000 in 1983. The first cell phone was developed when there wasn’t even a cordless phone for the home.
