Kabaddi first received international exposure when India demonstrated the sport during the Berlin Olympics in 1936. The game of kabaddi was introduced in the Indian National Games at Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1938. In 1950, the All India Kabaddi Federation (AIKF) came into existence and framed the rules. The game is also played in Italy, Spain, Argentina, Denmark, the USA and Belgium. Kabaddi is the national game of Bangladesh. It is the state game of the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
