Where is the World’s Largest Stadium?

Rungrado May Day Stadium is the world’s largest stadium. It is located in Pyongyang, North Korea. Its name comes from Rungrado Islet in the Taedong River, upon which it is situated. It is said to resemble a magnolia blossom. It has a total capacity of 150,000 spectators. This multi-purpose stadium was completed on May 1, 1989. It is currently used for soccer matches, athletic matches and most often for Arirang Festival performances, which is a gymnastics and artistic festival. Its scalloped roof features 16 arches arranged in a ring. It hosts events on a main pitch sprawling across over 22,500 square meter. Its total floor space is over 207,000 square meter across eight storeys.
