The world’s tallest sandcastle has been built not on a beach but in the German industrial city of Duisburg, in the Ruhr region. It is built by an international team of 19 sculptors. The new tallest sandcastle depicts famous landmarks, as its theme is tourism. Almost 4,000 metric tonnes of sand, the 16.68 metre tower features a sandy model of the Great Sphinx of Giza, Venice’s Rialto Bridge, Athens’ Acropolis, Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the grave of famous singer and actor, Elvis Presley.
