Where is the Adak National Forest?

The Adak National Forest is America’s smallest forest. Located in the southernmost city in Alaska, this forest is tiny with just 33 trees. In 1943, General Buckner had tons of trees planted in this forest. All died but only one tree was left standing. Somehow, a few other pine trees managed to grow back. In the early 1960s, somebody jokingly put up a sign that read: “You are now entering and leaving Adak National Forest.”
