The Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso was born in 1935 to a peasant family in Tibet. He was found by Tibetan monks at the age of two. He passed all tests and had the physical traits of the rebirth of the 13th Dalai Lama. He took the throne at the age of 4 in Lhasa, Tibet, and became a monk at the age of 6. Dalai Lama has taken refuge in Dharamshala, India. It has become home to the Dalai Lama and headquarters of the government-in-exile of Tibet since 1959.
