Where does Bungee Jumping Come From?

An organised commercial Bungee Jumping began with AJ Hackett of New Zealand. He made his first jump from Auckland’s Greenhithe Bridge in 1986. Modern Bungee Jump goes back to the traditional ritual jump called Ngol or Naghol. It originated at the Pentecost island of Vanuatu. A tall tower was erected by branches collected from the surrounding forest. The ground below was well prepared to become soft to minimize the impact of the jump when there was a touch-down.
