Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the Moon. The date was July 21, 1969. Neil Armstrong had to take over manual control of the landing of Apollo 11 spacecraft. The landing was successful. His famous words upon being the first man on the Moon were, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
