What’s that (Super Science Experiments)

You will need:

  1. Rolling pin
  2. Paper
  3. Pen
  4. Stopwatch

Figure out what it takes to think outside the box with this experiment.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Conduct a test of sorts with your friends by showing them the given image and asking them to write down, what the object is and what it is used for.
  2. Next, tell them that they have 30 seconds time to note down as many ideas as possible, that this simple everyday object can be used for.

RESULT

Almost all your friends will be stumped by this exercise in creative thinking after the first 10 seconds. Most of them will come up with 4 or 5 other uses for the rolling pin. Scientists have conducted similar experiments on a much larger scale to understand how our prefrontal cortex (specifically the right side) works. While our brain has evolved in such a way that it can come up with immediate solutions to certain problems; when asked to ‘think out of the box’ many of us are stumped. With tiny electrical impulses being given to certain parts of the brain, scientists are close to prove that these minute bursts can actually help increas our creativity and thought process.
