What is the Sense of Smell?

Smell is a type of sense. The nose has the sense of smell. We can smell due to airborne chemicals present in objects. For example, a rose gives out certain chemicals in the air which are perceived by the human nose and in turn the smell of rose is detected. Smell can be pleasant or unpleasant. This distinction is done by the brain. The nerves in the nose send signals to the brain. The brain detects the type of smell.
