Blood pressure (BP) is the measure of the force with which the heart pumps blood in the body. It is measured with the help of the BP meter. It measures two types of pressure: systolic and diastolic. Systolic blood pressure is exerted by blood on artery walls when the heart contracts and pumps blood. Diastolic pressure is the blood pressure when the heart is at rest after pumping out blood. If the BP is over 140/90 for a long time, the condition is known as high BP. When the reading is lower than 90/60 continuously, the condition is known as low BP.
