What do Turtles Eat?

There are around 300 species of turtles across the world. Each species possesses different food habits. Turtles are mostly carnivores. The snapping turtles are strictly carnivorous; they feed on ducks, frogs and fish under water. Green sea turtles mostly feed on marine grass and algae. The box turtle, which is a water and land creature, eats berries and fungi on land. Gopher turtles rest during the day and feed on fruits and vegetation in the evening. In winters, when the food supply of turtles disappears, they go to sleep.
