We Will See

An old farmer worked on his field for many years. One day, the farmer’s horse named ‘Kanthaka’ ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbours said, “Bad luck!” “We’ll see,” the farmer replied. The next morning, Kanthaka returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful!” the neighbours said. “We’ll see,” replied the farmer. The following day, the farmer’s son broke his leg while trying to tame one of the wild horses. The neighbours again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. “We’ll see,” answered the farmer. The next day, military officials came to the village to recruit young men into the army for an upcoming war. Seeing that the leg of the farmer’s son was broken, they rejected him. The neighbours congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. “We’ll see,” said the farmer.

Moral: Both good and bad times are not permanent. Be calm in all situations.
