Vyas requested Brahma to devise a solution to his dilemma. Brahma thought for a while and found out the blunder Vyas had done. He said to Vyas, “O Sage, how can you forget Parvati’s statement? She had said that before starting any holy work or any ritual, Lord Ganesha has to be given due respect, or else all efforts shall go waste. But you forgot to do so. Now you should pray to Ganesha and seek his forgiveness. Then only you will be able to get fruitful results.” On hearing this, Sage Vyas realised that he had forgotten to write the Mangalshlok at the beginning of his work. He remembered that every new venture, if started with Mangalshlok, reaches its goal successfully. So, the sage worshipped Ganesha and after getting his blessings, completed his work successfully.
