A long time ago, there was a wise and good king called Solomon. He was famous all over for his wisdom. People from all over the world came to see him. One day, two women came to him demanding justice. King Solomon asked, “What is the matter?” The first woman replied, “I am the mother of this baby but this woman says she is its mother.” The second woman said, “Oh King! I am the baby’s mother.” The first woman said, “Oh King! Believe her not. She is not the mother. I am the mother of the baby.” Now, King Solomon was in a fix. After a deep thought he said, “Cut the baby into two and give one part to each mother.” While one woman remained silent, the other cried, “Oh King! Let her have the baby. At least the baby will live.” The king said, “She is the
real mother!”
