Once, an ass and a dog lived on a farm. The two animals grew up and got married together. The dog’s wife was of a good breed whereas the ass’ wife was not from a good breed. Soon, the dog had many playful puppies. The ass also had a baby. But as the baby grew up, the ass realised it was very dull. The ass said to the dog, “Alas! I should have chosen a wife for myself as carefully as you chose yours. The mother of my children is dull and so is my child.” The dog said, “If my puppies are playful, it is not only because of my wife. I have also taught them many tricks. You should not blame your wife completely. You are also responsible for your baby.” The ass realised his mistake and did not blame his wife ever again.
