Lishka, the imp, was trapped in the wizard’s crystal ball. He was only allowed to come out when the wizard had a task for him. Lishka was very unhappy. One day, the wizard let Lishka out and ordered, “Lishka, go and pour water down that man’s chimney every time he tries to light a fire!” It was winter time and the earth was covered in snow. Usually, Lishka loved the jobs wherein he could trouble others. This always helped him forget his sad life for a while. However, this time he felt sorry for the man. It was bitterly cold. The man would suffer badly without a fire. So, Lishka said, “Master, I will not trouble this man!” Lo, the crystal ball shattered! The wizard flew off and Lishka was free! Just then, an angel appeared and said, “Lishka, you refused to follow the wizard’s wicked orders; that is why he lost all his powers over you.” Lishka ran away and always helped people.
