A simpleton was walking with his ass tied to a leash in the market. A pair of sharpers saw the man pulling the ass behind him. One said to the other that he would somehow take the ass from the man without his knowledge. Slowly, the sharper went behind the man, removed the ass from the leash and tied his own head to the leash.
When the man turned back, he was astounded to see a man tied to the leash and asked him who he was. The sharper told him with all mock seriousness that he was the ass tied to the leash till then but being released of a curse became a man again. He said, after drinking he beat his mother who cursed him to become an ass and thereafter she pardoned him.
So, he was back to human form. He felt sorry that that he had used the ass to carry burden. After being idle for some time, he went to the market to buy an ass. There he saw his own ass and went up to the ass and asked if he had started beating his mother again; nevertheless, he would never buy him, and went away.
