The Shepherd and the Bandit

The-Shepherd-and-the-Bandit

A long time ago, there was a shepherd. He had two sheep and could hardly make a living for himself. He had neither clothes to wear nor a pair of shoes. Now, one day, as he was watching his sheep graze, suddenly, a man came there on a horse. He was a very notorious bandit. He saw the shepherd and got off from his horse. He said to the shepherd, “You seem to be a poor shepherd. Come and work with me. I will give you clothes and shoes. You will not have to worry for your livelihood.” At this, the shepherd smiled and replied, “Though your offer is tempting yet I will refuse. I am content being a poor shepherd. At least, I have my peace of mind which you do not have.” Hearing this, the bandit was stunned. The shepherd’s words deeply influenced him and he surrendered himself to the police.
Moral: Peace of mind is precious.
