One day the king asked Tenali, “Tenali, is it possible to be
both ‘noblest’ and ‘lowest’ together?” Tenali said, “Yes, Sir” “Then bring me such a person.”
Tenali went and returned next day with a beggar. Presenting him to the king he said, “This is the lowest among all of your subjects, Sir.” Krishnadeva asked, “Good, that may be true, but I don’t see that how he can be the noblest.”
“He has been given the honour of having an audience with the king that makes him the noblest among beggars.” The king was rendered speechless. He looks sideways. He once again patted the back of Tenali for his witty remarks.
