A monk knew a mantra that could make precious jewels fall from the sky. However, he could use this power only once a year according to the position of the planets. One day, the monk and his followers set out for a village. On the way, a gang of kidnappers captured them. They wanted ransom. Though the planets were favourable that day, the followers told the monk not to use his mantra. However, the monk used his mantra and gave the jewels to the kidnappers. They grabbed the jewels happily. Just then, a gang of robbers caught them all. The kidnappers told the robbers about the magic jewels. However, as the day had already passed, the monk could not perform his magic again. The angry robbers killed the monk. Then they fought among themselves until all were dead.
Moral: Power and greed lead to destruction.
