Once, a boy named Kaga asked his friends to come along with him and they would all trap mice. But his trap didn’t have food or a spring. He thought of an idea. When all of them had kept their traps, he said to his friends, “Let’s go and bathe in the river.” While his friends were bathing, Kaga ran back where the traps were kept, took all the mice and put them in his own trap. He quickly came back and dived into the river. After some time he said, “Let’s go and see if the mice are trapped.” All the traps were empty except for Kaga’s. He said, “Look how many I caught without a spring and food!” They thought he was foolish and laughed at him. After reaching home, all the boys told the story to their fathers, but Kaga’s father was angry. “A trap without a spring and food can’t catch mice. I’ll punish you if you do this again.” The story teaches us not to steal other people’s property.
