The driver with a chalky white face and grey eyes stared at Alex. “Coming aboard?” he said. Alex stepped back. The man drove off in his black car. Alex woke up with a start in his hotel room. He was travelling back home that day. He had an early morning flight. He checked his watch. The flight was four hours away. Alex was out of the hotel room by 5 a.m. He pressed the lift button. The doors opened. The liftman gave him a knowing smile. He had a chalky white face and grey eyes. “Coming aboard?” the liftman asked with a grim smile. Alex stepped back and the lift door closed. Then, there was a loud crash. Alex rushed down the flight of stairs and reached the reception. On enquiry, he found out that the lift cable had snapped, causing the lift to crash. The manager was relieved as the lift was empty when the crash took place.
