Samuel was the son of a poor carpenter. Every day Samuel went with his father to the forest to cut trees. One day Samuel was sitting ‘on a log to take some rest. Suddenly he heard a cry, “Help me, please…!” He looked around but there was no one. He again heard the same voice. Samuel peeped in through the hole in the log and saw a tiny fairy inside. “Please take me out of here!” the fairy cried again. Samuel at once put his hand inside the hole and picked up the fairy. The fairy thanked Samuel for saving her from the curse of a wicked witch. She asked what she could do for her. Samuel told the fairy of the state of his family and how poor they were. The fairy’s eyes were filled up with tears and she disappeared. When Samuel and his father reached home in the evening, they saw a palatial house in the place of their hut. Samuel and his father couldn’t believe it. Samuel looked up in the sky and thanked the fairy.
