A nightingale was sitting on a huge oak tree and singing a beautiful song. A hungry hawk heard her. He flew down silently and gripped the nightingale tightly. The nightingale begged the hawk to let her go. He asked the hawk, “Why do you want to eat me? I am so small. Your appetite will not be satisfied if you eat me.” The hawk ignored what the nightingale said. But the nightingale continued, “Go and hunt for bigger birds than me. Please let me go.” The hawk got annoyed and said, “I am not so foolish that I will let go off you to catch something that I cannot even see now. I will first eat you and then hunt for more food after-wards.” The poor nightingale gave up trying and resigned to her fate.
