The Grand Festival

Hatim reached a town where a grand festival was in progress. People were dressed in their best clothes, singing and dancing. Hatim was curious to know the occasion they were celebrating, so he asked an old man. He replied, “Every year, around this time, a dragon visits our city. He takes a human form and carries away the most beautiful daughter of our village. We have to celebrate the occasion; if we don’t do so, he would destroy our entire village.” “It means you are celebrating your own destruction! This is inhuman. You must stop this!” said Hatim. “Stranger, you are new and do not know what this dragon is capable of,” replied the old man. Hatim, after hearing all about the dragon and his description, concluded that it was a genie. He knew that the pearl that the bear’s daughter gave him would help him to stop the genie from destroying the village.
