The Goblin’s Good Deed

The goblins of Glowtown were a strange lot. They were famous for their warm, generous hearts and foolish minds. Poki, the goblin, was walking by the grocery store. He saw an old man struggling to get something out of a box on the shelf. The shop was empty. There was nobody to help him. Poki walked in and offered to help. The old man was grateful to Poki. He asked Poki to clear out the shelves and fill up the old man’s large bag. When the bag was full, the man patted Poki on the back and said, “Thank you, son; when the storekeeper comes in, tell him that you enjoyed cleaning out his shelves.” Saying this, the old man disappeared. When the shopkeeper came in, Poki repeated the old man’s words. The man screamed at Poki and tied him up with a strong rope. Then, he called the village policeman. Poor Poki had foolishly helped a clever thief!
