Once, an old woman and a doctor went to Akbar’s court. But Birbal, as usual, solved it with his intelligence. The old woman said she was blind, while the doctor said she could see. Birbal took the old woman to another room and asked her, “What is the matter?” The old woman said, “I had called the doctor to heal my blindness. During each visit, the doctor would apply medicine on my eyes. However, he would also steal something from my house. After the doctor had stolen the valuables from my house, he healed me completely. Then he asked me for his fee. Since he had stolen my valuables, I told him I was still blind.” Birbal took the old woman to Akbar and said, “The old woman is right. She is still blind; she cannot see the valuables that she had before she became blind.” Akbar punished the doctor for stealing the old woman’s belongings.
