In Egypt, there lived a confectioner with a beautiful wife and a parrot which acted as a guard of their house. One evening before leaving, the confectioner ordered the parrot to guard the house until he returned the next morning. Soon after he had left, his wife went for her old lover and they passed the night together and the parrot observed all. The next morning when her husband came, the parrot informed him everything and he then beat his wife. When his wife realized about the parrot, she decided to kill the bird. The next morning when the husband again had to leave for a night, he instructed the parrot to keep a watch. This time, both the wife and her lover terrorized the parrot with artificial thunderstorms and lightning. When the husband returned, the parrot informed him of the lightning instead. Soon he assumed the parrot was an idiot and lied to him about everything and threw it from the window.
His friend saw the parrot in this condition and suspected a trick played by his wife. He advised him to ask his wife’s confidante. She informed him the whole story and the husband repented of having killed the parrot.
