The Amazing Book

Hugo was the only goblin in Goblin-Land. He could not read. His friends made fun of him and his teachers scolded him. One day, Hugo started crying when he reached home. His father asked, “Hugo, why are you crying?” “Everybody teases me and calls me names because I can’t read,” Hugo replied sadly. Hugo’s father brought him a book and said, “Here, take this book and try to read between the lines.” At first, Hugo did not understand what his father meant. However, when he opened the book, he was amazed. As he turned the pages, the characters of the stories jumped out from between the lines of the book explaining the stories. They helped Hugo understand words and read on his own. Hugo kept on reading, mesmerised by the book. From then on, he would read all kinds of books and enjoy them. What’s more; no one ever teased him again!
