Swedagon Stupa is a stunning golden stupa. It is located in Yangon, Myanmar. The Stupa was opened in 1372.
Why it is special: It is also known as the ‘Golden pagoda’ because of its brilliant golden sheen. Measuring 99 metres in height, this gilded stupa sits atop a hill and dominates the entire Yangon skyline. Considered to be one of the most famous and sacred Pagodas in Myanmar, the Swedagon Stupa contains relics of 4 previous Buddhas from the present aeon.
