Supercool Water Make Instant Ice (Creative Chemistry Experiments)

You will need:

1. Distilled water (like
   packaged pure drinking
   water)
2. Chiller tray of your
   fridge
3. Small bowl filled with ice
4. Thermometer

If you’re looking for a cool new trick to show it to your friends, then here it is! Turn water into ice right in front of their eyes. But, get everything lined up first.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Take a sealed bottle of packaged drinking water of 500 ml.
2. Place the bottle in the chiller tray of your fridge.
3. Let it cool for about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
4. Remove the bottle carefully. The water in the bottle should be extremely cold, but not frozen.
5. Open the bottle and record the temperature. It should be below 0
   degree.
6. Take a small bowl filled with ice, and gently start pouring the water into it.
7. You could pour this super cooled water into a transparent glass and drop a small piece of ice into it.

RESULT

As soon as you pour the water into the ice-filled bowl, it freezes and forms ice slush. In case of dropping a piece of ice into the super cooled water, the water immediately starts to freeze. It is important to record the time it takes you to super cool the water. Next time, you won’t need to record the temperature.
