St. Stephen’s Cathedral

St. Stephen’s Cathedral was built in Vienna, in 1160. St. Stephen’s Church is the most important religious building in Vienna. The church was built in a Romanesque and Gothic style of architecture with a multi-coloured tiled roof that has become symbolic of Vienna. Built in limestone, the church is 136 metres in height. The North and South Towers were originally meant to be identical, but aren’t.

Amazing Fact: After the completion of the South Tower, construction of another 136-metre high tower proved too ambitious. Thus, North Tower stump was augmented with a Renaissance cap at 68 metres.
