Ram Meets Sugreev

When Ram heard how Bali banished Sugreev out of Kishkindha and took away his wife and son, he felt sympathetic for Sugreev. Meanwhile, Hanuman’s sincerity and gentleness impressed him as well. “Your words are so soothing, Hanuman. You are so humble and intelligent! Sugreev is, indeed, very fortunate to have a minister like you,” Ram praised Hanuman. Ram’s words overpowered Hanuman. He then carried the princes to the mountain a top his shoulders. Hanuman introduced them to Sugreev and narrated their story. He also told Sugreev the reason behind their visit. Sugreev was overjoyed to see Ram and Lakshman. He embraced them warmly. Ram and Sugreev forged a lifelong friendship. Sugreev assured Ram that he would help them find Sita. Ram, too, promised Sugreev that he would help him kill Bali and regain his kingdom. Hanuman was witness to this blossoming friendship between Ram and Sugreev.
