Prabalgard Fort

Prabalgard-Fort

The Prabalgard Fort, also known as Muranjan, lies in the Western Ghats in the state of Maharashtra, in India. Built on a plateau, the Prabalgard Fort was built at a height of 2,300 feet, containing a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and other stone ruins. This fort was built during the Bahmani Sultanate as a way to keep an eye on two other forts in North Konkan areas. When the fort was attacked and taken over by Shivaji, the women in the fort performed ‘Jauhar’ to ensure an honourable death!
