Petra

Petra

Petra is an archaeological site with world-renowned sandstone carved architecture. Petra was built around 300 BC as the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Petra is located in the southwestern desert of Jordan.

Why it is special: A stunning architectural and visual treat, the city of Petra can be accessed via a narrow canyon known as the Al Siq. The city comprises temples carved into the pink sandstone of the cliff, giving it the popular nickname, the Rose City. Amongst the beautiful structures the most iconic of them is the Al Khazneh, a temple with a Greek-style facade.
