Pamukkale is a town in Western Turkey known for its mineral–rich thermal water terraces. Pamukkale, which literally means ‘Cotton Castle’, is a picturesque geological phenomenon known for the white travertine terraces of hot springs that are rich in carbonate minerals left back by flowing water. These hot springs are kept such by underground volcanic activity.
