Prince Max had a habit of saying, “Never mind!” in reply to anything. When the stable groom asked if he wished to ride, he’d say, “Never mind!” If dinner was announced, he’d say, “Never mind!” If he was called into the court, he would repeat, “Never mind!” Everyone in the palace was fed up. The king called his ministers and they formed a plan to cure his habit. “Let’s have dinner,” Prince Max would say. And the kitchen staff would chorus, “Never mind!” “Bring my horse,” the prince would order and the stable groom would walk off saying, “Never mind!” The prince was puzzled. There was none available when he called for his carriage and nobody would go hunting either. When he wished to get dressed, his attendants said, “Never mind!” Finally, he realised how silly he had been. He apologised for his rudeness to everyone. Now none said ‘Never mind’ in that kingdom!
