Mulla, the Coachman

Mulla, the-Coachman

Once, Mulla Nasruddin had taken up a job as a coachman. Often, he had to drive his employer to a dangerous part of the town. “Keep your eyes open,” his employer warned him as he got off the coach at his destination. “This place is infested with thieves.” Some time later, the man decided to check on Mulla. “Is everything all right? What are you doing?” he shouted from a window of the house he had gone into. “I’m wondering what happens to a man’s lap when he gets up,” Mulla shouted. A little later, the employer shouted, “What are you doing?” “I’m wondering what happens to a fist when the fingers are unclenched,” shouted Mulla. “My coachman is a philosopher!” the employer boasted to his hosts. An hour later, he again shouted, “What are you doing?” “I’m wondering who stole the horses,” replied the Mulla, making his employer yell in anger.
