Louis Daniel Armstrong, lovingly known as Pops, was born on the 4th of August 1901 in Louisiana, U.S., and passed away on 6th July, 1971.

An American Jazz trumpeter, singer and composer Louis Armstrong played Jazz through 40 years, spanning different eras of Jazz. It was Armstrong who shifted the focus of trumpet and cornet being played in a collective form to solo performances. His gravelly voice gave his songs distinctiveness, unique to him.
