Musk deer resemble small deer with a stocky build, and have hind legs longer than their front legs with a soft dark brown-grey coloured coat. There are seven different species of musk deer. They are herbivores and live mainly in forested and alpine scrub habitats in mountains. Musk deer have been hunted for their scent glands.
