Imploding Can Crusher b(Funky Physics Experiments)

You will need:

1. An empty soda can
2. Hot water
3. Gas stove
4. Shallow dish
5. Iced chilled water
6. Tongs

We all have seen explosions take place in movies. What if you could try creating your very own implosion using basic household items?

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Fill 1-2 inches of an empty soda can with hot water.
2. Ask an adult to heat the can for 4-5 minutes on the gas stove, until steam starts emerging.
3. Keep iced chilled water in a shallow dish ready near by.
4. Remove the steaming can with the help of tongs from the gas stove and place it upside down into the iced chilled water dish.

RESULT

The can should begin to crush itself from the inside. In other words, when the can is being heated, the little amount of water in the can begins to heat up and converts to steam which is filled inside the can. Once the can is removed and placed in iced chilled water upside down, the can begins to cool down quickly; the steam and boiling water are trapped inside. As a result, the air pressure inside the can reduces and is less than the external air pressure, resulting in the can imploding in on itself.
