Hosta is a herbaceous perennial plant. It grows from rhizomes or stolons with broad lanceolate or ovate leaves. The leaves have wide variations in size by species. The enormous blue green leaves have streaky, wide green margins that lighten as the season progresses. White flowers appear in midsummer. Its large leaves provide excellent coverage for dying bulb foliage. Light lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer.
