The word gerenuk means giraffe-necked in Somali language. It is found in the deserts of Eastern Africa. They have brown coats with pale belly and short, black tipped tails, and small heads in proportion to their bodies. Gerenuks can grow up to 41 inches tall, weigh up to 45 kg with an average life span of 8 years.
