The fossa is a mongoose-like mammal which is found only in the forests of Madagascar. It has a short, dense red-dark brown coloured fur, a cat-like head and a dog-like snout. With large forward facing eyes and small rounded ears, it can measure up to 6 feet long, weighs up to 12 kg and can live for up to 17 years.
