Flying Saucers (Physics Experiments)

Do you believe in flying saucers? Have you seen one? If so, this last experiment may be just the thing. It’s an impossible sight that’s made possible by the invisible force field of a magnet.
Things Required:
Paper
Markers or crayons
Metal paper clip
10-inch-long string
Tape
Strong and flat magnet
Stack of books
A pair of scissors

Directions:
Draw and colour a small picture of a flying saucer or UFO (Unidentified Flying Object). Cut out this object. Use tape to secure the back of this picture to a metal paper clip.
Cut a length of string about 10 inches long. Tie one end of the string to the paper clip. Tape the other end of the string to a desk.
Hide a flat magnet between the pages of a book. Place this book atop a stack of other books. Position the stack so that the picture may be attracted to the magnet. When raised, the flying saucer should float in mid-air with no apparent reason for the gravity-defying behaviour.
This Is What Happens:
Although it isn’t visible yet, the magnetic field exists. The attraction of the hidden magnet is strong enough to overcome the weight of the clip, paper, tape and string.
