Eric fell asleep reading the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. That night he began to dream about a giant. Eric found a large boulder near his farm. When he sat down on it, the boulder changed into a giant. Frightened, Eric ran, with the giant following him. He ran and hid in the chicken coop and when the giant tried to enter, he found the door too small. Suddenly the cock crowed and the chickens attacked the giant, pecking and scratching him. There was such a lot of noise and Eric was so frightened that he woke up with a start! He found he was in his bed and it had all been a dream. It was morning and the cock had actually crowed. He realised he ought to have got up to collect the eggs. ‘Today I’ll tell my classmates about my dream!’ he thought as he climbed out of bed.
