It is an annual evergreen shrub. The unusual silvery grey/white foliage of this plant provides attractive contrast to bold-coloured garden flowers. It prefers summers that are warm and dry and winters that are cool (not cold) and wet. Its leaves can be entire, deeply lobed, or intricately lacy. The yellow flowers are attractive, but usually removed to prevent legginess and focus attention on foliage. The fresh juice is said to remove cataract though not recommended. This plant is excellent for edging borders and beds. The plant contains poisonous alkaloids and should not be eaten.
