Interesting fact : This particular beetle has an affinity for pharmaceutical products such as dried herbs, plant materials used in medicines, spices and at times even for bread and biscuit crumbs.

Similar in appearance to the cigarette beetle, this beetle is about 3.5 mm in length. Its habitat includes a yeast fungus with which it lives in symbiosis. Females lay up to 75 eggs at one time directly on items which become food source for the larvae. The larvae are responsible for infestation and damage of the various food-items on which they were laid.
